Welcome to Living with Liisa! I hope you enjoy it here!
I am Liisa, a 31-year old mom of two and wife of one from Finland. I’ve been a crafty person all my life, whether it’s been drawing, paper crafting, knitting, reorganizing, diy-ing or crocheting. The combination of being a leftie and learning new techniques (at almost anything) hasn’t always been a walk in the park, and now that I look back at my school years, I think – sadly – that each and every one of my craft teachers had very little to do with me ending up this way. Two of my greatest loves; knitting and crocheting I took on as an adult, and I’m very proud to say that I am completely self-taught.
I established my business here in Finland in 2009, knitting baby garments. That line of business (with zero money to invest in it, I might add…) is very limited in such a small country. Fast forward two years into 2011, I learned to crochet. With chunky t-shirt yarn and a big hook, I started to make doily rugs and storage baskets. My first and still loyal customers were a few of my dearest friends, from whom I get inspiration, new ideas and brutally honest feedback. Thank you lovelies, you know who you are… Little by little I have expanded my product range, and it starts to look like me (fun, cheerful, simple and colorful!). I am very happy with that.
I opened my Etsy shop in december of 2012, and in a distant dream I hope to be featured in The Etsy Blog’s “Quit your day job” series. For now I am grateful and happy for people liking what I do, and slowly reaching more and more people, through both Etsy and this little blog of mine.
While this blog will concentrate on crochet stuff, other things in my life will also be a part of it. Everyday life. Simple life.
