20130329-175844.jpgThis is my second ever picture. These doily rugs were for customer’s bedroom, they’re 60 cm in diameter (and lovely!) I fell in love with this photo so much that I chose it to be on some of my business cards.

20130329-175957.jpgThis was taken on a cruise between Finland and the second best country in the world – Sweden. There were me and a friend, and our kids. Had the greatest time! πŸ™‚

April 2012

20130329-180252.jpgWhipping some eggs for four(!) sponge cakes. In our family we have a lot of kids born in April (on 2nd, 12th, 14th and 19th + my Dad on 29th), and rather than having to visit someone every weekend, it’s nice to throw one huge par-tee for everyone! Last year was the first of this tradition and it was me who was the coordinator then.

September 2012

036Washi tapes from Etsy. I made the mistake of taking a peek of washi tape projects on Pinterest, and the rest is history.

087Rainbow cake for E’s second birthday. I was quite nervous making it, but it turned out great (and HUGE)!

October 2012

154Selfie from the road. I don’t know what happened to my mouth, though… πŸ˜€

125My favorite thing about my favorite season. Picking mushrooms! We try to find a new place every year, but some of the best ones (like the one in this photo) are old and remain everyone’s favorite. This particular place was found by my grandma, who passed the secret to my mother, who again passed it to me and my sister. A kind of family heirloom.

November 2012

20130329-182931.jpgA piece of our “Christmas” lights. They hang in the doorway to the kids’ room, and they love it as their night light. They’re cheapos from Ikea, and have been hanging there for over two years now (lit most of the time), I’m surprised happy they’ve last this long.

20130329-183705.jpgMy all-time favorite journal/diary, Midori Travelers Notebook. Only gets better with age. And you can’t go wrong with Lamy fountain pens!

20130329-183740.jpgYES! Finally last week we got to ditch our winter boots and dig out the wellies! Not long before it’s flip flop time… πŸ™‚

WIP: reflectors

I received an order of 10 flower reflectors for a baby girl’s pram. Pink, of course πŸ™‚

A candy-free year

I’m now going public with the announcement that I have taken up a task from my “Before I die” list; give up candy for a year. Woo…

Today is the first day of that project, and so far (been out of bed for about 90 minutes) I’m doing just fine πŸ˜‰ Chocolate will be the most difficult to leave behind. And ice cream. And chocolate ice cream. *sigh*

To add to my forthcoming pain, I’ve decided to expand this to a little more than just candy.

So without further ado, here’s a total list of what is banned and what is not.

Banned completely:

  • candy
  • chocolate
  • ice cream
  • potato chips
  • sodas

Allowed on special occasions* (those would be family birthdays, anniversaries, mother and fathers’ day etc.):

  • a slice of cake/pie/whatever is up for grabs

Allowed:

  • home-made pop corn
  • xylitol chewing gum
  • sugar-free sodas

So, wish me luck (I know I’ll need it…)!! πŸ™‚

*special occasions occur in my family about ten times in a year

Legos

A lot of times I feel guilty for not playing enough with my kids. I think it’s kind of sad that a lot of adults lose the ability to let go and be kids! And it’s really not that hard, once you get your mind around it. But still I’m definitely one of those parents, unfortunately. It just doesn’t come naturally anymore. Often times I whip up something more important to do lame excuses. There’s definitely room for improvement here.

Rather than actually play with my children, I love to read for them, play board games, paint or do other crafts. I guess that’s more than some parents do and I should cut myself some slack, but still… I say “no” too often. 😦

20130327-223527.jpg

But with Legos it’s a different story. I can’t get enough of them! It is seriously difficult for me to pass the Lego section at markets without buying stuff. I think I’m supposed to teach my kids that they can’t get toys every time we do our grocery shopping, though. BUT IT’S HARD! MAMA WANTS πŸ˜€ Whenever someone in our family is having trouble figuring out what to get for which kid for their this-and-that celebration, I have an answer ready. πŸ˜‰

We have Duplo Legos at our house; they suit better for My Girl E – who turns three come fall and is tiny! And My Boy T (five in a couple of weeks) has also been happy with them. He has only recently started to show interest in the “real” ones. Can you guess what he’s getting for birthday? πŸ™‚

Progress on “Before I Die”

I got to cross over “See the Northern Lights” from my list! And I didn’t have to travel to Lapland, either. A walk in our driveway was far enough. Of course they’re not as vibrantly colored as they would be in Lapland, but noticeable. And quite rare this far south. BEAUTIFUL. I’m happy.

Moo goes there

Oh look, look! They’re here!!

I have ordered some business cards from Moo before, it’s always a pleasure. Their paper quality is superb; thick and smooth. πŸ™‚
This time the text is in English, and I added a new picture.

Still waiting for a batch of stickers πŸ™‚
